Here are some suggestions for you
that may be helpful in the event of a claim.
- It's always best to take
photos immediately after the incident with the following
documentation: Who, What, When, Where
- Property Claims: Protect
yourself first! After that, take the necessary measures to protect
the insured property from further damage. Reasonable expenses
incurred to protect and preserve the property after a covered loss
are reimbursable (above your deductible. Emergency repairs should
also be made to protect remaining property or prevent injury to
people.
- Separate the damaged from the
undamaged items. Make a list of the items damaged and include the
item's age and value.
- All theft losses must be reported to
the police as soon as possible.
- Liability Claims: Observe details at
the scene of the accident and note what may have caused the accident
(did hazardous conditions exist or did the injured party cause the
accident). Get the following details: Date, time and location of the
accident. Name, address and phone number of the injured party. Get
names and addresses of any witnesses to the accident.
- Automobile claims: Do not discuss
responsibility for the accident at the scene. Advise the other
parties you will turn the claim in to your insurance agent for
handling. Give them your insurance information. Accidents causing
either bodily injury or property damage in excess of $500 must be
reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles within 10 days by
filing an SR-1 form that the attending police officer should
provide.

If it is after hours and an
emergency, please contact your insurance
carrier directly to report your claim. Otherwise, please call the Snyder
office to report your claim. We have listed their "800 number"
claims service below. If there is a separate after hours number we have
listed that as well. Please have your policy number ready. After reporting your claim, you should expect to be
contacted by the insurance company adjuster within 24 hours.
Print this form and keep it in
your glove compartment to help you report a claim.
